8 weeks to go!

Image
Wow - this time in 8 weeks we'll be just an hour or so away from landing in Nairobi - its getting really exciting now.   On Sunday we met as a whole team for the first time - apart from Jane who will join us actually in Kenya, we had all 13 of us together. We worshipped and prayed, and talked about some of the detail of what we'll be doing. Its looking like its going to be really exciting with the opportunity to see and do lots of different things. I'm so grateful to our host organisations in Kenya. It was great to continue trying to learn some Swahili too, and find out a bit more about some of the cultural experiences while we're there - it is possible some of our team may get marriage proposals and there was much laughter over how many cows we would accept to marry one of the group off. :-)  We also had another fundraiser - another incredibly successful cake and craft sale. Such brilliant things on display. I'm delighted to say we have now covered basic costs of ...

2 months to go.

In exactly two months time we'll be taking off from Heathrow Airport on our way to Nairobi. It feels like its starting to get close.   We had a meeting with Nairobi Chapel yesterday, talking about the opportunities they're offering us to see what life is like in Nairobi, church life and day to day for different people groups. It sounds so exciting, and I can't wait.

9 week to go!

So this time (lunchtime on Tuesday 9th June) in 9 weeks we'll be mid-flight to Nairobi, Kenya. The weeks are going by really quick now.   We are knee deep in practical things to get sorted - visas, vaccinations, medical forms, risk assessments, etc.   But this weekend we also have our final fundraiser (hopefully) - another cake and bake sale. The team and family and friends have been incredible at making and baking. If you're at or near St James Styvechale on Sunday 14th June come along after either service to buy some goodies to support our trip.  We also have another team get together on Sunday afternoon, where we're looking forward to getting to know each other better, learn a bit more Swahili and plan our time in Kenya.
10 weeks to go! I can't believe it! So exciting!
