We had a fabulous meeting this week, and suddenly this feels really real! The lovely Rachel came to visit us. Rachel is a young lady from Birmingham who now lives and teaches in Kimilil with ICFEM, where we'll be visiting as part of our trip. Rachel was kind enough to talk all about Kimilili, about ICFEM, and about some of the things we'll be getting involved in. It was reassuring to see pictures of some of the aspects of our trip - the guest house, a previous holiday club, and Kimilili itself. It was so useful to hear about dos and don'ts in Kimilili, and also some practical advice for our trip.    It was also the first time that most of us had been together in one room. I'm looking forward massively to meeting together as a team regularly over the coming weeks.
So its been a relatively quiet couple of weeks since we climbed Snowdon. We raised over £1600 with gift aid, which means that climb alone has funded one person to go to Kenya complete! Actually everyone going has contributed what they can, but its lovely to think of it in terms of a person going to Kenya.    The talk on the Kenya group chat at the moment is mostly about vaccinations! The advice is confusing, different health professiuonals seem to be saying different things, and boy are they expensive! But hopefully we'll all be vaccinated up before too long.    The most exciting thing this coming week is the chance to meet Rachel, who teaches in Kimilili, and was our initial contact for going there. She's very kindly coming to speak to us all about life in Kenya and what we can expect, as she's home for a few weeks. I can't wait to meet her, and get the opportunity to find out more about one of the places we'll be visiting! We'll report back soon. :-)
