Day 9
Hi, this is Heather!
Feeling grateful for a nice warm shower last night (had cold showers the past few days), electricity and slept well which is great! Praise the Lord!
Today we went to the kids holiday club (2nd day for those who were at Compassion project yesterday). We started off with some praise songs which involved lots of actions & dancing. We joined a long line of dancing and singing & invited kids to join. It was so lovely seeing the kids singing and dancing with big smiles on their faces.
They did some competition games with leaders & kids eg. Fastest team to wrap leader up in toilet roll. Josh G, Josh L and Grace were roped into this activity! The kids were very excited and shouted for their favourite team.
We then split into our different age groups. I was helping with the 6-8 year olds. There were 100 children in this age group. So we split the group into 2 classes.
My class had 50 kids. There was 1 teacher & myself taking the session so it was very challenging trying to keep them focused. Today’s topic was shining for Jesus takes courage & Joy when in difficult situations. We looked at Daniel in Lions Den & Paul & Silas in prison. We made lion faces out of paper plates & shakers out of plastic cups & rice. We taught “this little light of mine” kids song with actions to both classes together in one room which was great. We are going to do the song at the talent show tomorrow.
Some classes made bracelets & others made elephants from fabric & stuffed wool. All the kids loved their crafts.
In the afternoon Ali & I played games in the field such as Simon said & parachute games. Josh M was seen teaching the young kids some exercises eg. Push ups and sit ups which kids enjoyed (and Josh M) 😁
At the end of the day, all the kids & leaders did more dancing with music to end the day.
It will be our last day of holiday club tomorrow, so mixed feelings eg. Sad, but also relieved as it’s been quite a busy & exhausting week.
Power was on when we got back home so we were all happy about that.
Answers to prayer : Nate was able to access his GCSE results & did exceptionally well - Congratulations to Nate!! We all proud of him! 🙌👏🏻
There has been some improvement in the poorly Babies in hospital, and in particular one of them was visited by their mum for the first time since she was born at 9am yesterday
. Praise God! 🙌🙌
Hope you all have a blessed week. Heather 😊
