Day 6 overnight reflection

 Josh G (or now known as Josh 2 in kimilili) wrote the following overnight - its a timely reminder that God is in control



Its been a hard day and I just feel the need to offer some encouragement before I go to sleep. 

My mosquito net is a really funny shape and even though the four corners are pinned to the ceiling it seems as if it’s twisted into a really funny shape. I thought maybe I’d got it twisted 90 degrees out but I’ve followed the seams from the ceiling to the floor and they are straight. I was reminded of Isaiah 55:8-9 

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the LORD.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Today (Monday) has not gone how we would have planned it, our journey here was rough and the power going out on top of the rooms not being what we’d hoped but I sensed God saying “I’ve got you right where I want you”

I pray also that once we’ve had a day playing with a load of children we’ll have that sense of joy like we did after real hope and Tujuane

    Am praying the prayer from Lectio today over you all: Jesus, let your life flow through the team today. Where they are weak, be their strength; where they empty, fill them with Your presence, and where they are restless, teach them to remain where You want them. Amen

  Hello, it's Grace, one of the people on the mission trip!  Today was an emotional day for us all. One thing that happened was that me and JoJo got our A level results (we really appreciated all the prayers, thank you) and we have both gotten into Exeter Uni!!! It was interesting to go straight from that into going into to the children's home called Real Hope as it gave to me some perspective on education and the privilege that it is, we went on a tour of the home led by the wonderful Samuel who clearly has such a love and care for the kids and such a heart for his work. We learned so much on the tour about what life is like for these kids. We were able to serve by playing with the kids and talking to the staff, and me and Jane helped to make Chapati (which was very tasty but probably not due to my involvement lol), we went to a field to play with the children and it was really great to see the games they enjoyed, some I knew, some I learned.  We've had another incredible weekend here in preparation for our Kenya mission trip. Yesterday 14 people climbed Snowdon. I (Claire) have been reflecting on the trip in the last 24 hours and there is so much I could see. Here are a few thoughts, and a few photos.   Firstly a few 'prizes' -   - craziest climber - Simi (with Matthew as a close runner up)  - most helpful - Matthew  - bravest - all of us, but especially Grace and Heather battling through injuries and pain  - most sacrificial - Kevin, Hazel, Amy and Nicola - giving up half their weekend and climbing Snowdon with us despite not even going to Kenya  - mountain goats - the Maynards - they made it look easy! It wasn't!  - most shocked by how big Snowdon actually is - Grace and Josh L  - leader of the pack - Josh G -  somehow managed to keep at the front for most of the climb up and down to help keep our young people safe  -  wisest and most sensible and so he...

Fab first day.

 We've had a fabulous first day.   Our accommodation at Resurrection Garden is so lovely. The first 3 photos below show the gorgeous surroundings.   We then spent the afternoon with Pastor Rhoda at Nairobi Chapel. They have such an amazing campus and its so different to anything you would see in the uk. I'll add some other photos on another blog in a minute. There were lots of big tents and classrooms, with different areas for different age groups. It was fab to hear how they focus their work around TOUCH. T is for Teams - teams working together to reach their local community for Jesus. O for one on one - building relationships to share God's love. U for under 18s and young adults - intentionally investing in the next generation. C for community - reaching out for Jesus. and H for health - spiritual, mental and physical health. We are so excited and privileged to join with Chapel this week to see some of the ministries they run for their local community.  ...
