Day 12

 Well we've arrived at our last night in Kenya. Its hard to believe we're flying home tomorrow night although we have a fairly full day tomorrow.

Today was an incredible wildlife day. We were out the door for a safari at 6am but it was so worth it. We saw lions, vultures, rhino, crocodiles, and much more. I'll put a few photos below, but do some more when we get back.

 Then we went to an elephant orphanage, followed by a giraffe sanctuary where it was a real highlight to feed the giraffe.

This evening we prayed for each other before having dinner with Josh Lumwagis family. It was lovely to meet them.

    Thanking God for the wonderful day you have had with the safari etc and I know what joy it would have been for Josh L to meet up with his family and to introduce them to his church family in kenilworth. Praying for all the packing, transfer and flight to go smoothly and a good night sleep for you all. God Bless x

  Hello, it's Grace, one of the people on the mission trip!  Today was an emotional day for us all. One thing that happened was that me and JoJo got our A level results (we really appreciated all the prayers, thank you) and we have both gotten into Exeter Uni!!! It was interesting to go straight from that into going into to the children's home called Real Hope as it gave to me some perspective on education and the privilege that it is, we went on a tour of the home led by the wonderful Samuel who clearly has such a love and care for the kids and such a heart for his work. We learned so much on the tour about what life is like for these kids. We were able to serve by playing with the kids and talking to the staff, and me and Jane helped to make Chapati (which was very tasty but probably not due to my involvement lol), we went to a field to play with the children and it was really great to see the games they enjoyed, some I knew, some I learned.  We've had another incredible weekend here in preparation for our Kenya mission trip. Yesterday 14 people climbed Snowdon. I (Claire) have been reflecting on the trip in the last 24 hours and there is so much I could see. Here are a few thoughts, and a few photos.   Firstly a few 'prizes' -   - craziest climber - Simi (with Matthew as a close runner up)  - most helpful - Matthew  - bravest - all of us, but especially Grace and Heather battling through injuries and pain  - most sacrificial - Kevin, Hazel, Amy and Nicola - giving up half their weekend and climbing Snowdon with us despite not even going to Kenya  - mountain goats - the Maynards - they made it look easy! It wasn't!  - most shocked by how big Snowdon actually is - Grace and Josh L  - leader of the pack - Josh G -  somehow managed to keep at the front for most of the climb up and down to help keep our young people safe  -  wisest and most sensible and so he...

Day 8- Compassion

As Claire mentioned in our previous blog post. Today we have split into two groups, the majority of us going to visit the Compassion project at the First Baptist Church, Serem. Josh #2, as I now appear to be known, reporting for duty. The drive was long, over 2 hours, our driver was playing a worship playlist and so we occupied ourselves joining in worship. Serem was packed full of people for market day. Sadly (or happily, depending on your point of view), we did not have any time to shop because we had to go straight to the church where we were greeted with a song and dance from the church community. We were introduced to the children and families who are sponsored by members of St James church. There was much rejoicing, and much praising the Lord.
