Day 11

 Brief update on Kimilili:

Our time at IcFEM was an absolute blessing, it was full of chaos and tiredness but also full of excitement, laughter and joy. Although we had a few blackouts and lots of rain most of us definitely want to return. Some real bonds were made at camp with the children but volunteers too so goodbyes were super difficult.

Some of us got to meet Solomon, the director of ICFEM, on video call this evening. He is truly a visionary man and it was great to hear the community transformation vision behind what we've seen this week.

Travelling back to Nairobi:

We travelled back to Nairobi today, on the way we had a quick pit stop at the equator which was absolutely amazing! We were hoping for a bright red line across the floor which sadly does not exist but we of course took a picture on the line. When we got to the airport the plane was delayed but I think it worked in our favour as we all enjoyed getting food, drinks and looking around the souvenir shops. Many, many things were bought and we all enjoyed it. We are now back at the guest house in Nairobi all excited and getting ready for safari tomorrow!!

Not long left on our trip any more and that comes with many mixed feelings. One thing I’m definitely looking forward to get back to is a strong and warm shower.

See you all soon, Esther xx
